School Closed

Category: GENERAL

Date: March 16, 2020 - March 20, 2020

Dear Parent/Guardian:

Out of an abundance of caution, and in consultation with the San Diego County Office of Education and local public health officials, Pacific Coast Christian Prep will be closing in order to curb the potential transmission of the coronavirus (COVID-19). Our school will be closed through April 3, reopening April 6 assuming conditions allow. We understand this action may pose added hardship for some of our families.

We are grateful that we have a loving Father who oversees us and always takes care of us. We trust in Him.
Psalm 91:1-4: “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.’ Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.”

We will transition to distance learning next week, March 16 - 20. This morning your child’s teacher has discussed with the students the plan for school work next week. Teachers will also be in contact with families as well throughout the week, so please be checking your emails regularly. As you know, we are already scheduled to have Spring Break from March 23 - April 3.

While your student(s) remains home, we encourage you to continue practicing good hygiene, which includes:

• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
• Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
• Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
• Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
• Get vaccinated for the flu is you have not already

If you feel for any reason your child may have or has been exposed to the novel coronavirus, please contact your doctor immediately. Virus symptoms can range from mild to severe and could include fever, cough, and shortness of breath. Symptoms may appear in a few as two days or as long as 14 days after exposure.

We will remain in close contact with the San Diego County Office of Education and local public health officials throughout the duration of this closure and will provide updates to families as appropriate.

We encourage you to stay informed of the situation by regularly checking updates from San Diego County Public Health Services and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). We understand this is a time of uncertainty and concern. We will work through this together to keep our students, families, and staff safe. If you have questions about our school, please contact us by email or phone at 619-292-0920 (cell: 858-945-6043).

Psalms 91:5-7 continues to say: “You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.”

Thank you for your cooperation and support.
